It should be mentioned that Imam and Sarfaraz previously met in a Dubai-based U19 World Cup match in 2014.

Following their exclusion from the second Test, Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul dealt a double blow to India.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) acknowledged in a statement that Jadeja had a hamstring injury and Rahul experienced soreness in his right quadriceps on the fourth day of the first Test.

The BCCI declared that Sarfaraz, Washington Sundar, and Sourabh Kumar would be joining.
