After having to withdraw from the 2024 Australian Open owing to a fresh muscular injury, Rafael Nadal is scheduled to make his comeback at the Qatar Open in Doha in February.
After a 12-month layoff, Nadal finally returned this month at the Brisbane International, but a fresh injury caused him to miss the first grand slam of 2024.
There were rumors following the Spaniard’s most recent injury that the 22-time Grand Slam winner would announce his retirement from the game because of his never-ending injuries, but that is not going to happen as he will make a comeback at the Qatar Open, which gets underway in Doha on February 19.
Nadal, a previous victor of the Qatar Open, will compete in the hardcourt competition. Should he advance, he might also play in the Miami Masters and Indian Wells in March.
Big names like Andy Murray, the two-time Grand Slam winner, Daniil Medvedev, and Andrey Rublev will be competing in the Qatar Open in Doha. Murray recently made hints that he would retire soon after losing in the first round of the Australian Open.
Given his fame, Nadal’s participation in the Qatar Open would undoubtedly improve the competition’s standing and level of play.
If all goes according to plan, the 22-time Grand Slam champion would play in his preferred Roland Garros, a competition he has won a record 14 titles, in Paris before deciding whether or not to compete in the 2024 Summer Olympics.
On March 3, Nadal is also expected to play in an exhibition match versus Carlos Alcaraz at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. The competition is called The Netflix Slam. This is a historic day for the massive streaming service Netflix because it will be their first-ever live tennis broadcast.
