Esteemed reporter Fabrizio Romano shared an update on the transfer of French and Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe on Saturday.
Romano stated that Real Madrid, the Spanish powerhouse, is putting in a lot of effort to finalize the deal.
“Real Madrid are working very hard behind the scenes on the Kylian Mbappe deal. They are on it,” was the quote attributed to Romano by the Madrid Zone.
Previously, it was suggested that Mbappe would reveal his future plans in the coming days.
According to Sport Bild, Mbappe is asking for an annual salary of €70m (£60m/$76m) and a transfer bonus of €125m (£107m/$136m) to seal his move to Real Madrid.
The World Cup champion is currently allowing his contract with Paris Saint-Germain to expire, and if his conditions are not met by the summer of 2024, he will be available as a free agent. Rumors about a potential move to Spain for the 25-year-old French international have been circulating for a while.
Real Madrid is keen to sign Mbappe as their next ‘Galactico’, but the personal terms negotiations are proving to be difficult.
This challenge stems from Mbappe’s demand for double the amount that Los Blancos are prepared to offer. Real Madrid has reportedly made an annual offer of €35m (£30m/$38m), which is significantly less than what Mbappe is asking for.
The La Liga titans at Santiago Bernabeu are looking for “written guarantees” from the French player if a compromise on terms is to be achieved, prolonging the drawn-out saga.
In other news, Real Madrid is planning to offer right-back Dani Carvajal a contract extension, as confirmed by journalist Jose Felix Diaz via MARCA.
Madrid plans to extend Carvajal’s contract, which expires in 2025, by one year as a reward for his key role in the team.
At 32 years old, Carvajal has been a regular choice for Ancelotti at right-back. Despite injuries, he has played in 16 La Liga matches this season, logging over 1300 minutes.
Carvajal has spent nearly his entire career at Real Madrid, with the exception of a single season at Bayer Leverkusen.
Despite the fact that he will be 34 in 2026, Real Madrid believes the defender will continue to perform well for the team.
