Shaheen Afridi, the T20I captain of Pakistan, has shown interest in considering the potential comeback of ex-fast bowler Mohammad Amir to the national squad.

Recently, both cricketers played together for the Desert Vipers in the ongoing ILT20 2024. Afridi, during an X Space session with Saya Corporation, voiced his thoughts on the prospect of Amir’s return to the team.

Afridi indicated his intention to have a conversation with Mohammad Amir to assess his willingness to return to the Pakistan team.

“I will talk to Mohammad Amir if he’s available to come back for Pakistan once again. Amir and I bowled together after almost 5 years. It was a very good experience to bowl with him, our partnership was great,” Afridi expressed in a X space.

In 2020, Amir retired from international cricket, attributing his decision to unfair treatment by then head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis.

In a recent media interaction, Amir revealed that he had moved on and currently has different priorities in his life.

“At the moment, I have moved on. I have different things in my life to do,” Amir stated.

Amir, who has been absent from international cricket for three years, alluded to the challenges of making a comeback given the changing dynamics of cricket.

“Three years is a long period out of the international system. If you look at the Pakistan system right now, it is changing every single month, so you never know what is coming,” Amir commented.

“For me this debate is closed. After three years out, I don’t think it would be a sensible decision for me to come back. For now, at least. I don’t know what will happen in the next few years,” he concluded.
