Shahid Afridi, in his belief, sees Mohammad Amir, who has been away from international cricket for four years, as having the capability to make a comeback to the Pakistan team.
In a conversation with a local news channel, Afridi drew comparisons between Amir and leading Pakistani fast bowlers such as Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, and Shaheen Afridi.
“Amir can easily make his way into the lineup of the Pakistan team even today. He falls in the category of Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, and Shaheen Afridi. There is still cricket left in Amir and he should play for Pakistan,” Afridi expressed.
Afridi emphasized that Amir still has cricket in him and advocated for his return to the Pakistan team.
Waqar Younis, a former Pakistani fast bowler, also suggested that Shaheen Shah Afridi should take note of Mohammad Amir’s performance for Quetta Gladiators against Islamabad United in the first eliminator of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9 at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi, on Friday.
“I hope Shaheen Afridi is watching that because I think he needs to do that more often. Because early on if it [the ball] isn’t swinging, just hit this length,” Waqar advised.
Amir finished with figures of 2/20 in four overs, restricting United to 174/9 in 20 overs. However, the Gladiators were unable to reach the target and were eliminated from PSL 9.
