During the ongoing holy month of Ramadan, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir will host an iftar dinner for the Pakistan men’s cricket team in Rawalpindi on April 8, instead of the previously planned date of April 7.

The iftar dinner is also expected to be attended by top officials of the Pakistan Army and the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi.

Currently, the national team is participating in a fitness camp in Kakul, Abbottabad, in preparation for the home T20I series against New Zealand. The players have been undergoing training and gym exercises at the Army School of Physical Training (ASPT).

It’s important to note that New Zealand is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on April 14 for the much-anticipated five-match T20I series.

The teams will play the first three T20Is at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on April 18, 20, and 21. Following these matches, both teams will relocate to Lahore to play the remaining two T20Is of the series on April 25 and 27, respectively.

All five matches of the T20I series are set to begin at 7:00pm (PST).

New Zealand’s team will be captained by Michael Bracewell during their tour of Pakistan.

Due to their commitments to the Indian Premier League, Trent Boult, Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, Mitch Santner, and Kane Williamson will not be participating in the series.

Colin Munro was also not available for selection, and Tim Southee has been given a rest.

Will Young was also not available for selection due to his contract with Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, and Tom Latham is awaiting the birth of his second child.

For the first time in New Zealand’s T20I squad, Tim Robinson from Wellington and Will O’Rourke from Canterbury have been selected.

According to sources, the announcement of Pakistan’s squad is expected to be made on Monday.
