Mark Chapman, expressing optimism, stated that the absence of some key New Zealand players from the T20I series against Pakistan should not impact the outcomes as both teams prepare for the inaugural match tomorrow.

The first game of the five-T20I series is scheduled to take place in Rawalpindi.

“We know that we are missing a few players. The team we have got here comprising an exciting bunch of players. There are some very talented players in the team the ones who have shown great skills and performance in domestic cricket. Boys are excited to give their best in the series,” Chapman mentioned during a press conference.

Chapman acknowledged the strength of the Pakistan team.

“The team is a strong unit. Pakistan is playing their best team against us so it would be a great opportunity for our young players to show their talent against the best of Pakistan players. The team members are excited to perform and impress the selectors.”

He also expressed hope for a highly competitive series.

“There is some quality talent in the New Zealand team. Hopefully, the series will be a competitive one.”

Michael Bracewell has been appointed as the leader of New Zealand during their tour of Pakistan.

Trent Boult, Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, Mitch Santner, and Kane Williamson will not participate in the series due to their commitments to the Indian Premier League.

Colin Munro was also not available for selection, and Tim Southee has been given rest.

Will Young was also not available for selection due to his contract with Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, and Tom Latham is awaiting the birth of his second child.
