Shoaib Malik, the former captain of Pakistan’s cricket team, has called for tactical adjustments in the team’s batting and bowling strategies after their series defeat to England.

In a tweet, Malik highlighted the team’s need for resilience, citing previous instances where they have bounced back from difficult situations.

“Tough series! Remember: we’ve been in tough spots before & came out stronger,” Malik posted on Twitter.

He directed his advice to current captain Babar Azam, suggesting a reshuffle in the batting lineup and recommending that Babar bat at number three. Malik’s counsel reflects his confidence in Babar’s ability to anchor the innings during the middle overs.

“IMO [In my opinion] Babar should bat at no 03! We need someone in the middle overs to rotate strike, you are our best option, with your guidance our middle order will do a lot better,” Malik continued in his tweet.

Malik also encouraged Azam Khan and Shadab Khan to maintain their self-assurance and play passionately, acknowledging their crucial roles in the team.

“Azam and Shadab, you two are vital for our team, don’t lose confidence, play with heart, you are match winners. Going into the World Cup, keep your morale high, we’ve got this,” he expressed in another tweet.

Malik’s advice aims to uplift the team’s spirit and confidence following their 2-0 series loss to England, as they approach the T20 World Cup.

Concurrently, Babar Azam shared his thoughts on the loss in the fourth T20I against England, calling for improvement from the middle-order batsmen.

“First six overs, we played very well. After that, the momentum shifted as wickets fell. Our middle-order needs to step up. You need 2-3 good overs in the middle and in the death as well. England’s bowling was very good. Hopefully, we don’t do this in the World Cup. We made a couple of changes due to the injuries. Our powerplay was good. We have played good cricket in patches,” Babar stated during the post-match presentation.

The Pakistan team is set to face the USA in their opening match of the T20 World Cup 2024 on Thursday, June 6, in Dallas, USA.
