Adam Zampa, the Australian spinner, made history as the first male player from his team to claim 100 wickets in the T20 World Cup on Wednesday.
This young Australian athlete accomplished this milestone during their match against Namibia at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.
Bowling first, the 32-year-old took four wickets, including wicket-keeper Zane Green, right-arm medium-fast bowler David Wiese, left-arm bowler Ruben Trumpelmann, and right-handed batsman Brenard Scholtz.
Zampa has secured 100 wickets in 83 matches with an economy rate of 7.20. Meanwhile, Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc is in second place with 76 wickets in 62 T20I matches and an economy rate of 7.72.
“To get the win tonight and qualify for Super Eights, is a nice feeling. (One if he feels the ball is coming out well) Yes and no. I bowled a couple of pies tonight but in general, the ball feels like it is coming out well. Being encouraged to pick up wickets in the middle, particularly by the captain. (Challenging of bowling with the breeze) We experienced that in Barbados as well. We know on these wickets that is a challenge. We’re happy, it is the first step in trying to take the trophy home but a long way to go,” Zampa expressed in the post-match press conference.
