Ex-Pakistan skipper Ramiz Raja has extolled Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah as a cross-format luminary, following his stellar showing in the T20 World Cup 2024.

While addressing Pakistan’s dwindling pace attack, Ramiz veered off to laud Bumrah’s significant progress.

Bumrah’s pivotal contributions to India’s T20 World Cup success included clinching 15 wickets across eight games, boasting an impressive average of 8.27 and maintaining an economical rate of 4.18. His outstanding efforts earned him the Player of the Tournament accolade.

“Jasprit Bumrah, in my eyes, is a legend across all formats. He stands unparalleled in playing all three formats. (To aap dekh rahe hai, ek ladka kaha se utha hai, usme confidence nahi tha, uska awkward bowling action hai) You witness a boy’s journey from obscurity, initially lacking confidence with an unconventional bowling action,” remarked Ramiz on his YouTube channel.

“Despite being unfit, he returned and has now led India to a World Cup victory,” he continued.

Bumrah’s record includes 36 Test matches for India, capturing 159 wickets at an average of 20.70. He has also secured 149 wickets in 89 ODIs at an average of 23.55.

Previously, he was awarded the Player of the Month for July, outperforming Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Afghan wicketkeeper-batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz for the honor.
