Former England captain and respected commentator Nasser Hussain has singled out Pakistan’s talented batter, Saim Ayub, as a potential member of cricket’s next ‘Fab Four.’

The ‘Fab Four’ term was originally coined by the late New Zealand cricket legend Martin Crowe in 2013, predicting that Virat Kohli, Joe Root, Steve Smith, and Kane Williamson would dominate world cricket in the years to come.

His prediction proved accurate, with all four players making a massive impact and setting a standard for excellence in the game.

In a recent podcast discussion with fellow commentator Michael Atherton, Hussain praised Saim Ayub for his adaptability across all three formats of the game.

He noted, “I’m going to go with Saim Ayub [for the next ‘Fab Four’], who I think is a multi-format player. He just had this injury, and it’s uncertain whether he’ll be fit for the Champions Trophy, but he could be a dynamic player at the top of the order for Pakistan across all formats”

In addition to Saim Ayub, Hussain also named England’s Harry Brook and India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal as potential members of the next ‘Fab Four.’ He suggested Australia’s Travis Head as another possible candidate, though Atherton humorously dismissed the idea, citing Head’s age.

Atherton went on to predict that Sri Lanka’s Kamindu Mendis and New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra, alongside Brook and Jaiswal, would likely join the ranks of the next ‘Fab Four.’
