Second ODI: Pakistan wins match by defeating Sri Lanka with 8 wickets
RAWPALPINDI: Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka in the second ODI to win the three-match series. Chasing 289, Pakistan reached the target in 48.2 overs, losing only two wickets.
Star batsman Babar Azam scored an unbeaten 102 off 119 balls, hitting 8 fours. His century came after a long wait since his last big innings. Opener Fakhar Zaman scored 78, while Saeed Ayub made 33. Wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan remained not out on 51.
Sri Lanka’s Dushmantha Chameera took 2 wickets, but Pakistan’s strong start with a 77-run opening partnership set the tone.
Earlier, Sri Lanka scored 288/8 in their 50 overs. Janith Liyanage led with 54 runs, followed by Chamindu Mendis (44) and Sadirasamara Wickrama (42). Haris Rauf and Abrar Ahmed took 3 wickets each, with Mohammad Wasim picking one.
Pakistan played without Shaheen Shah Afridi, who missed the match due to illness. The national team included Fakhar Zaman, Saeed Ayub, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Salman Ali Agha (captain), Hussain Talat, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim, Abrar Ahmed, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf.
