Arsenal asserted their dominance on the European stage with a convincing 3-1 triumph over Inter Milan at the San Siro, maintaining a flawless Champions League record as Gabriel Jesus delivered a decisive first-half brace.
The victory marked Arsenal’s seventh consecutive win in the competition, sealing a top-two finish in the league phase and securing home advantage in the second leg through to the semi-finals. Mikel Arteta’s side now lead the standings with 21 points, holding a commanding six-point cushion over Bayern Munich.
Arsenal struck early when Jesus pounced in the 10th minute after Jurrien Timber’s effort fell kindly into his path. Inter briefly reignited the contest as Petar Sucic equalised eight minutes later, but the visitors swiftly regained control. Jesus rose above the defence to power home a header from a corner shortly before halftime, restoring Arsenal’s lead.
Viktor Gyokeres put the result beyond doubt late on, coming off the bench to unleash a spectacular long-range strike six minutes from full time. The defeat leaves Inter ninth in the table with 12 points.
Elsewhere, Tottenham Hotspur rediscovered their European rhythm with a vital 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund, easing the pressure on head coach Thomas Frank and edging closer to the Champions League knockout rounds.
Goals from skipper Cristian Romero and Dominic Solanke in the first half handed Spurs a firm grip on the match, as Dortmund struggled after being reduced to 10 men following Daniel Svensson’s dismissal.
Despite ongoing domestic inconsistencies having claimed just two wins from 11 Premier League home games this season Tottenham produced a composed and disciplined performance on the continental stage.
