Asad Ali Memon, Sindh’s only recognised mountaineer, has set his sights on the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest.

Asad is on his way to Nepal to climb Mount Everest as part of his mission to summit the world’s 14 highest peaks.

Asad stated at a press conference in Karachi that his goal is larger, but that small steps will help him achieve it.

“I have a goal to summit all 14 highest peaks in the world. Everest is my next target,” he shared.

“Without government support, I have climbed multiple highest peaks in different parts of the world. This time it’s Mount Everest and still no support from the government,” the young mountaineer lamented.

Asad also wants to climb the highest peak on each of the seven continents. His seven-summit journey began in 2019 when he became the youngest Pakistani to climb Europe’s highest peak Elbrus, followed in 2020 by South America’s highest peak Aconcagua. He then went on to become the first Asian and only Pakistani to climb Africa’s highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, in just 20 hours. Asad became the youngest Pakistani and the third from the country to climb North America’s highest peak, Denali, in 2022.

The mountaineer’s upcoming challenge to climb Mount Everest in April 2023 is difficult, but he is determined to succeed.

“Climbing Everest is always a tough task. But, I am confident to do it in April this year. I am the only Pakistani in a group of mountaineers who are going to summit Everest in April this year,” he shared.

“I would like to request government and sponsors to come forward and support me as I am going to represent Pakistan,” he concluded.
