Alex Hartley reveals she is fating during holy month of Ramadan
Alex Hartley, a former English cricketer and currently the spin bowling coach for Multan Sultans, is breaking new ground in the ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Hartley recently revealed that she is participating in the Ramadan fast along with the team.
Recognizing the importance of Ramadan, Hartley expressed her intention to understand the Sultans’ players’ experiences by fasting herself.
“It is Ramadan and the lads are fasting. So I thought I really want to understand how they’re feeling when they get to the game. I think it is only fair that the players are doing it, so I should join them [in fasting],” Hartley shared with BBC 5 Live Sport.
Detailing her fasting schedule, Hartley discussed the difficulties she encounters throughout the day.
“We have just broken our fast now after we fasted all day. I have had some dates and some salad. We can eat till 4 am and then we don’t eat again till 6:40 pm the next day. It is hard, so hard,” she elaborated.
In order to accommodate her fasting, Hartley has adjusted her sleep schedule.
“I go to bed at 4 am and sleep during the day, as our games start at 9 pm in the night,” she concluded.
