Fakhar Zaman’s selection for Pakistan’s upcoming tour of Australia is uncertain due to persistent knee problems and a recent failed fitness test. His outspoken behavior has also led to disciplinary action, with some senior board members reportedly displeased with him.
Known for his aggressive batting style and a double century in One-Day Internationals, Fakhar Zaman has faced challenges both on and off the field recently. Sources indicate that his knee issues may prevent him from being included in the squad for Australia. While he has been playing domestic cricket, there are concerns that further strain on his knee could lead to a serious injury.
Fakhar failed a fitness test following his return from the West Indies, where he was unable to complete a 2-kilometer run in the required 8 minutes. Although fitness standards have been slightly relaxed by Aaqib Javed, Fakhar’s remarks during a recent connection camp about his No Objection Certificate (NOC) upset certain senior officials.
Adding to his troubles, Fakhar’s tweet in support of Babar Azam—soon after Babar was dropped—sparked speculation that Fakhar was critical of the decision. As a result, he was issued a show-cause notice and given until Monday to respond.
As of Thursday night, Salman Ali Agha was the favorite for Pakistan’s white-ball captaincy, but Mohammad Rizwan has now emerged as the frontrunner for the leadership role. Fakhar’s place in the team remains uncertain.
