Monaco: Pole vault celeb Mondo Duplantis and 400m champion Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone have earned global Athletics’ highest honor, being crowned World Athletes of the Year.

According to media reports, Sweden’s pole vault legend Mondo Duplantis and America’s 400m champion Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone have claimed the top award from international Athletics.

Duplantis Dominates Throughout the Year

The 26-year-old not only retained his Olympic gold medal in Tokyo but also persevered to reveal his entire dominance in pole vaulting all year.

He improved his very own world record four more times and remained undefeated in 16 competitions. Duplantis additionally secured his 5th consecutive Diamond League title.

Reacting to the honor, Duplantis said:

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone’s Two-Year Unbeaten Streak

American superstar Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has remained unbeaten in both the 400m and 400m hurdles for the last two years.

Her brilliant 47.78-second performance in Tokyo became the second-fastest time in 400m history.

The 26-year-old became the primary athlete in the world to win global titles in both the 400m flat and the 400m hurdles. She was also a part of the U.S. 4×400m relay team that won gold.

On receiving the award, she expressed her joy:

“This is a huge honor for me. Ending the season in Tokyo was one of the most memorable moments of my career. 2025 was the year I decided to push my limits further than ever.”
