The Australian Open 2026 is set to make history with a remarkable 16% increase in its prize pool, bringing the total purse to an unprecedented AU$111.5 million (US$75 million).
This surge marks a new era in tennis, with both emerging talents and seasoned champions poised to compete for a share of the biggest payout in the tournament’s history.
The winners of the men’s and women’s singles will each take home an impressive AU$4.15 million (US$2.79 million), a substantial 19% rise from last year’s AU$3.5 million.
Even those eliminated in the opening round will receive AU$150,000 (US$100,750), while players knocked out in the first round of qualifying will still earn AU$40,500 (US$27,200).
Tournament director Craig Tiley emphasized that this significant increase reflects Tennis Australia’s unwavering commitment to supporting players at all stages of their careers. “With a 55% boost in qualifying prize money since 2023 and additional player benefits, we’re ensuring that professional tennis remains sustainable and rewarding for all competitors,” Craig Tiley said. “By providing support across all levels, we’re fostering a deeper talent pool and creating more captivating stories for fans.”
The tournament will kick off at Melbourne Park on January 18, with defending champions Jannik Sinner and Madison Keys set to defend their titles in what promises to be an unforgettable spectacle.
