- Novak Djokovic defeated Holger Rune in the Paris Masters quarterfinals.
- Djokovic will face Rublev in the semifinals for a spot in his seventh Paris Masters final.
- Dimitrov will face Tsitsipas in the Paris Masters semifinals.
To advance to the Paris Masters semi-finals, top-seeded Novak Djokovic defeated Holger Rune.
In the previous year’s final, Rune defeated the Serb to win his first ATP Masters championship.
Rune’s trip to the ATP Finals is now uncertain as Djokovic won 7-5 6-7 (3-7) 6-4 despite wasting a match point in the second set.
After defeating Australia’s Alex de Minaur 4-6 6-3 6-1, Djokovic will square off against Andrey Rublev to secure a spot in his seventh Paris Masters final.
Rune’s victory would have guaranteed him a berth in the world’s top eight players for this month’s ATP Finals in Turin; nonetheless, the seventh-ranked Dane is still in a good position to make his debut at the end-of-season tournament.
Hubert Hurkacz of Poland, however, will not be able to compete in the Italian championship match due to Grigor Dimitrov’s 6-1 4-6 6-4 victory, which prevents him from finishing in the top eight.
Saturday’s semi-final match between Dimitrov and Stefanos Tsitsipas will take place after the Greek seventh seed defeated Russia’s Karen Khachanov in straight sets.
300th career singles win for Tsitsipas, who triumphed 6-3 6-4 to book his spot in Turin on Thursday and hasn’t lost a set in Paris.
