DUBAI: Star footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed his determination to reach a milestone of 1,000 career goals, saying that if he stays fit and avoids injury, Insha Allah, he will achieve the feat.

Since relocating to Saudi Arabia, the globally renowned Portuguese forward has adapted to the local lifestyle and even incorporated commonly used Arabic phrases in public appearances.

Ronaldo, who recently won the Middle East’s Footballer of the Year award for the third consecutive time, made the declaration during the awards ceremony in Dubai. The 40-year-old acknowledged that aging makes continued play challenging, but emphasized his enduring passion and readiness to keep competing.

“Whether I play in the Middle East or Europe, I love playing football, scoring goals, and winning trophies. If injury doesn’t strike, I will surely reach 1,000 goals, Insha Allah,” Ronaldo stated.

During 2025, Ronaldo scored 40 goals across all competitions, showcasing his remarkable form and consistent performance, surpassing notable players like Karim Benzema, Salem Al-Dawsari, and Riyad Mahrez.

Currently representing Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr, Ronaldo’s contract runs until mid-2027.
