Shahid Afridi breaks silence on Dubai Air Show Crash

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has issued a thoughtful and humane response to the tragic crash of India’s Tejas fighter jet at the Dubai Air Show, urging people on both sides of the border to rise above hostility.

Speaking to reporters in Peshawar, Afridi reminded the public that human life is sacred and that celebrating death even of an adversary reflects poorly on our shared humanity.

During the Dubai Air Show, an Indian Tejas aircraft went down while performing an aerobatic maneuver.

According to the Indian Air Force, the jet crashed at 2:10 PM local time, resulting in the pilot’s death.
Authorities have begun forming a special investigation board to determine the cause of the accident.

Responding to a journalist’s question about the incident, Afridi remarked:

“Do not rejoice at the death of an enemy; someday your own loved ones may also be gone. This was not a good event in any way.”

He emphasized once again that loss of life should never be a reason for celebration.

Turning to cricket, Afridi spoke positively about Pakistan’s current form, noting that the country is rich in talent and the team is performing impressively. He added that he is confident Pakistan will deliver a strong display in the upcoming World Cup.

Afridi also welcomed the inclusion of two new teams in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), saying the expansion will open doors for many emerging players who previously lacked opportunities, enabling more young talent to rise on the national stage.
