Cape Town: South Africa has announced its 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to be played in India and Sri Lanka in February. Aiden Markram will lead the team as captain.
Fast bowler Kagiso Rabada, who was sidelined for nearly 10 weeks due to injury, has made a comeback to the squad.
However, regular team member Tristan Stubbs did not make the final selection for the World Cup.
The South African squad includes:
Aiden Markram (captain), Quinton de Kock, David Miller, Keshav Maharaj, Marco Jansen, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi, Kagiso Rabada, Dwaine Pretorius, Temba Bavuma, Jason Smith, Corbin Bosch, Kwaya Mafaka, George Linde, and Donovan Ferreira.
Notably, seven players will be making their T20 World Cup debut in this squad.
The ICC T20 World Cup will begin on 7 February, with South Africa competing in Group D of the tournament.
Earlier, Cricket Australia announced its preliminary squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, confirming the return of key players Pat Cummins, Cameron Green, and Cooper Connolly.
The trio had missed the recent series against India, making their inclusion a major boost for the team ahead of the global tournament.
Chief selector George Bailey stated that Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Tim David are fully fit and expected to be available for the World Cup. He added that this is an initial squad, and changes may be made during the preparation period if necessary.
The squad features prominent players, including captain Mitchell Marsh, Xavier Bartlett, Cooper Connolly, Nathan Ellis, Pat Cummins, Tim David, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Matthew Kuhnemann, Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Short, Marcus Stoinis, and Adam Zampa.
Bailey also confirmed that the squad for Australia’s three T20 matches against Pakistan will be announced later.
