The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications is close to making it possible for people to buy smartphones through installment plans. The plan has reached its final stage and is now with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) for review. If someone fails to pay their installments, the PTA will block their phone, a task previously handled only by mobile companies.
