Google says that scammers are sending 18 million fake emails regarding coronavirus daily.

Google has recently pointed it that cybercrime has been increased as cyber users are indirectly asked to reveal their private data.

Google has acknowledged that it was blocking more than 100 million scam emails daily. Tech firms said that the virus may become the biggest phishing topic.

According to details, Individuals receive a great variety of emails in which the scammers also mention authorities such as the World Health Organization. In the emails, the scammers persuade the individuals to download software or donate.

However, Google claims that they block more than 99.9% of emails from reaching the receivers through machine-learning tools.

Many cyber-security companies are recording the development in coronavirus-themed phishing.

Barracuda Networks informed that a 667% increase has been noticed in phishing emails during the outbreak.

Scammers are sending phishing emails and text messages in which they claim that they are from the UK government, the WHO, the CDC, and the officials.

Independent security researcher Scott Helme said, “Phishing attacks always share the common trait of inciting or depending on an emotion that causes us to act more hastily or think less about our actions at that moment in time,”

“The coronavirus pandemic is a highly emotional topic right now and cyber-criminals clearly know this. They’re hoping that the typical person might be more inclined to click through links or follow bad instructions if they use this lure.”
