Google, the widely-searched engine, has temporarily rolled out its feature it had launched with Chrome 80.

Google is making sure not to break websites whilst the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

Earlier in February, the tech giant enforced a new cookie classification that was basically designed to block cross-site tracking on Chrome.

This resulted with an effort to prevent bad actors from exploiting or harming cookie vulnerabilities.

The feature requires developers to indicate their website cookies’ attribute, which dictates how those small files a browser saves should behave.

Google, however, will automatically switch that attribute to a secure option that prevents cookies from tracking users across websites if they don’t dictate.

However, the change can break products and services that need cross-site tracking to work.

According to Google, most developers were prepared for the change which was announced in 2019.

But the company still decided to roll back its enforcement, because it wants to ensure some requirements.

The requirements are whether the websites providing essential services, such as banking, online groceries, government services and healthcare, continue to be accessible in these difficult times.

The tech giant will start the rollback today.
