The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has found that illegal Indian call centres’ phishing calls will cost US citizens over $10 billion in 2022.

Most of the people who lost money were US citizens over 60 years old, and they lost more than $3 billion.

In response to this trend, the FBI has sent a permanent representative to the US embassy in New Delhi to work with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Interpol, and the Delhi Police to shut down these illegal call centres and make India a less friendly place for this kind of activity.

In 2021, Americans lost a total of $6.9 billion to these scam calls, which is 47% more than in 2022, when they lost $10.2 billion.

Tech support fraud has also caused a lot of money to be lost. In the last two years, over $3 billion has been lost, with $347 million lost in 2021 and $781 million lost so far in 2022.

In these phishing scams, fake callers often pretend to be from well-known companies or government agencies in order to get their victims to give them personal information or money.

They might also try to scare their targets into making a quick decision by spreading fear or making them feel like time is running out.

People need to be aware of these kinds of scams and take steps to protect themselves.

This means being careful about giving out personal information, especially over the phone, and not giving in to high-pressure tactics or offers that seem too good to be true.

It’s also a good idea to talk to your family and friends, especially older people, about how to spot and avoid phishing scams.

People need to keep an eye out for these kinds of scams and take steps to protect themselves so they don’t fall for them.
