Google, the tech giant, has refuted all rumors circulating on social media platforms about the potential closure of Gmail services.
Reports indicate that an unverified email screenshot surfaced on platform X, formerly Twitter, claiming imminent termination of Gmail services. However, the screenshot originated from an authentic email generated by Google to discontinue the basic Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) view. Unfortunately, a portion of this email was utilized to spread false information regarding Gmail’s shutdown.
The purported email informed users about Gmail’s impending discontinuation within a few hours, leading the public to mistake this misinformation for truth, especially as Google had previously announced the shutdown of several of its services, despite their popularity among users.
Google has established a webpage titled “killed by Google,” where the company catalogues all 293 discontinued products. Despite this, Google unequivocally stated in response to these false claims: “Gmail is here to stay.”
