WhatsApp has launched a new feature in its latest update aimed at enhancing user safety when joining group chats. This update provides users with more information about a group before they join, helping them make informed decisions and avoid unwanted groups or potential scams.

What’s New in WhatsApp Groups?

If someone you don’t know adds you to a group, WhatsApp will now display key details such as:

  • Who added you to the group
  • Advertisement
  • When the group was created
  • Who created the group

This additional information empowers users to decide whether to join the group or not, helping them avoid suspicious or unwanted groups.

Why This Feature Matters

Scammers often add users to random groups to spread scams. In 2019, WhatsApp introduced options to control who can add you to groups. Users can now select one of three options:

  • Everyone: Anyone can add you to a group.
  • My Contacts: Only contacts saved in your phone can add you.
  • My Contacts Except: Block specific contacts from adding you to groups.

This latest update continues to focus on user safety, giving more transparency about group invitations and protecting users from potential scams or spam.
