Nintendo Switch 2 confirmed for launch this year

After months of speculation, Nintendo has officially confirmed the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 this year. The announcement, made on Thursday, has thrilled handheld gaming enthusiasts worldwide.

According to reports, the new console will retain many physical and functional similarities to its predecessor, the widely successful Nintendo Switch. However, detailed information about pricing and specifications will be unveiled during the Nintendo Direct event on April 2.

“The reveal did not carry the same impact as the original Switch,” noted Serkan Toto, founder of Kantan Games consultancy. He described the Switch 2 as an upgraded, larger version rather than a groundbreaking new concept.

Market Reaction

Following the announcement, Nintendo’s shares saw fluctuations, closing with gains after initially dropping by 6% earlier in the day.

The gaming community eagerly awaits further details at the April Nintendo Direct event, with high hopes for this next-generation console.
