Samsung unveils first rugged 5G phone

rugged 5G

Samsung just released XCover 6 Pro, the first rugged 5G smartphone. As with previous XCover phones, the 6 Pro is meant for construction workers. It’s shockproof and works with wet or gloved hands.

LCD display with a 6.6-inch screen and a resolution of 1080p and a refresh rate of 120Hz. It is guarded by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ and provides enhanced sensitivity for use even when wearing gloves. Brick-like in appearance due to its water resistance rating of IP68 and MIL-810H compliance.

Internals and Storage

The Snapdragon 778G is a system-on-a-chip that can enable 5G. It comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space that can be expanded.

Samsung’s One UI is included with Android 12 by default.

Cameras

Rugged phones aren’t camera-focused, but you get a 50MP primary sensor and 8MP ultrawide camera. 4K and 1080p video are supported.

13MP selfie camera is in the waterdrop notch.

Pricing and Battery Life

There is a battery with 4,050 mAh capacity that can be replaced with ease. A separate purchase is required for the 15W charger.

Speculations suggest that Samsung’s upcoming smartphone will be priced around around €600.
