The UK government has stated that 47 nations and territories would be removed from its red list, allowing more individuals to travel to more countries and territories.

Passengers returning to England from these locations will no longer be needed to pass through quarantine at a hotel.

The modifications will take effect at 4:00 a.m. on Monday.

Passengers who are fully vaccinated and under the age of 18 who are returning from countries and territories that are not on the red list can do so with just a day two test.

Other travelers returning from a non-red destination who have not been completely vaccinated with an approved vaccine must nevertheless do a pre-departure test, a day two and day eight test, and complete ten days of quarantine (with the option of test to release on day five).

Eligible visitors immunized in more than 37 new countries and territories, including Brazil, Ghana, Hong Kong, India, Pakistan, South Africa, and Turkey, will be treated the same as returning fully vaccinated UK citizens beginning Monday.

That is, as long as they have not visited a nation or territory on the red list in the ten days leading up to their arrival in England.

The new travel update follows the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office’s statement earlier this week that it had withdrawn its travel warnings for over 30 nations and territories.

As countries and territories are removed from the red list, more advisories will be withdrawn, making it simpler for individuals to be protected by insurance while traveling to a broader range of places.

According to the Transport Secretary, Grant Shapps, “With half-term and winter sun around the corner, we’re making it easier for families and loved ones to reunite, by significantly cutting the number of destinations on the red list, thanks in part to the increased vaccination efforts around the globe.”

He added, “Restoring people’s confidence in travel is key to rebuilding our economy and leveling up this country.”

“With fewer restrictions and more people traveling, we can all continue to move safely forward together along our pathway to recovery.”

Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Haiti, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela are the only countries still on the red list.

The World Travel & Tourism Council’s chief executive, Julia Simpson, has urged for the list to be removed completely.

“There is no justification for a red list to remain in the UK.”

“Other countries have realized that blanket country measures are no longer needed and instead assess on individual risk and whether travelers have been fully jabbed.”

“While this is great news for countries such as South Africa which have been severely impacted by their red list status, welcoming all fully-vaccinated travelers, regardless of country of origin is key to restarting safe international travel.”
