As demand grows across the Norwegian network, traffic data for September show sustained growth in the number of passengers.

Traditional booking patterns are beginning to resurface, with more customers planning ahead and booking trips to popular city breaks and winter sun destinations, according to the airline.

According to Geir Karlsen, chief executive of Norwegian, “We are pleased to be able to report for the fifth consecutive month a continued positive increase in passenger numbers.”

He added, “Demand is steadily growing across all our markets, and bookings to our key European destinations are showing that our customers are regaining confidence in the travel sector and are now planning their future journeys well in advance.”

Norwegian transported 977,719 passengers in September, up 206 percent from the same month the previous year.

Total capacity (ASK) has grown by 154% and passenger traffic (RPK) has increased by 248% from September 2020.

In September, the load factor was 72.4 percent, up 20 percentage points from the previous year.

As per Karlsen, “More people are choosing to travel with Norwegian every month due to our focused route network, good value fares, modern fuel-efficient aircraft, and our on-board experience.”

He added, “We look forward to welcoming an increasing number of passengers over the coming months.”

Norwegian is continuing to expand its operations in response to demand and has reopened bases in Stavanger, Bergen, and Trondheim.

In September, the low-cost carrier flew an average of 46 planes, with 92 percent of them departing on schedule.
