A newborn born in India with two heads, three arms, and two hearts has doctors baffled.

Shaheen Khan and her husband Sohail were expecting two completely developed twins when she gave birth to what seemed to be a baby with two heads on March 28 in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, India.

The disorder, known as dicephalic parapagus, occurs when two newborns are linked by a single torso and frequently results in stillbirth.

The miraculous conjoined twins, on the other hand, have so far survived and have been admitted to a hospital in the adjacent city of Indore to be watched by physicians.

Shaheen is still being treated at Ratlam’s district hospital.

‘These sorts of occurrences are rare, and the status of kids remains unknown, especially in the early days,’ said one of the experts, Dr. Lahoti.

‘As a result, we have kept them under watch.

‘We have no plans to operate on the patient.’

Twins born with two heads but sharing one body are known as dicephalic parapagus — an incredibly rare kind of conjoinment that affects only one in a million births.

It comes after a 21-year-old lady in India had a kid with two heads and three arms in 2019.

Babita Ahirwar and her husband, Jaswant Singh Ahirwar, stated they were taken aback when she gave birth on November 23, that year.

‘We are stunned,’ said Mr Ahirwar. It’s incredible.

‘Everyone is taken aback to see them. We’re shocked that our youngster has two heads.’

Mr. and Mrs. Ahirwar, from Basauda village in Madhya Pradesh’s Vidisha district, were first devastated.

The couple had been married for 18 months and were looking forward to having their first child.

They were informed to expect conjoined twins during the 35th week of pregnancy, according to local sources.

However, following a C-section, they welcomed a ‘baby with two heads.’

‘It was a mixed emotion when the nurses handed over the baby to me,’ Mrs Ahirwar told a local news agency.

‘At first, I mistook it for a twin, but as the nurses removed the towel, I was astounded to discover our firstborn with two heads and three hands.’
