A WAITRESS who lost her job due to covid has been earning up to £1.7k per month through a lucrative side hustle.

When the coronavirus pandemic hit Australia’s shores in March 2020, Mona Route, 27, was fired from her job as a server at an airport in Melbourne, Australia, after five years on the job.

Later that year, she got a double whammy when the city was put on lockdown for 112 days.

“I was completely bored. “That’s when I started baking,” she told news.com.au, a sister publication of The Sun.

Losing her employment turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as the extra time allowed her to experiment with more difficult dessert recipes while also motivating her to lose weight.

Mona designed loaded cookies as a guilty pleasure as a “cheat meal” to make dieting pleasant.

Her family was urging her to do more, and her father suggested she sell her cookies, which sparked an idea.

Mona’s Treats was born as a result.

Her cookies come in 15 different flavours.

Ms Route set up an Instagram account for her loaded cookies and spent $500 gathering enough ingredients for a large batch.
