In Jharkhand, a private joyride glider—a two-person, small, lightweight aircraft—crashed into a structure close to Birsa Munda Park. Officials were informed that the flight’s captain and a 14-year-old passenger were both critically hurt and rushed to the hospital.

The glider aircraft took off from the Barwadda airstrip and flew above Dhanbad before a technical issue caused it to crash to the ground. The aircraft lost control and crashed on Nilesh Kumar’s home close to Birsa Munda Park. Nobody from the building was hurt, though. Kumar claimed that despite having a narrow escape, his two children who were playing there.

According to Ashish Kumar Yadav, officer-in-charge at the Barbadda police station, the joyride glider crashed into a building shortly after taking off from the Barwadda airport at around 4.50 p.m., and the incident was caught on camera.

The passenger was Kush Singh, a 14-year-old from Patna who was travelling to visit his maternal uncle Pawan Singh in Dhanbad. The young man had taken a joyride in a glider that was operated by a private company out of the Barwadda airfield.

Both injured people were taken to Asarfi Hospital, where the staff reported that their conditions were critical.

According to a police officer, the cause of the collision is still unknown. No one from the joyride glider agency was reachable.
