Netizens amazes by Lesser Floridan’s courtship dance

Nature is always wondrous, and animal species’ unusual traits often astound. Indian Forest Service officer Ramesh Pandey posted a video of a lesser florican courting online.

The clip depicts a green landscape where the bird appears. Its movement against a gorgeous field in the breeze is relaxing.

Pandey said the bustard is endangered, “Leaping breeding displays by males in Lesser and Bengal Floricans is a visual treat to watch. Members of Bustard family these birds are endemic to country and highly endangered. VC: @zubinashara,” Twitter: @zubinashara.

Males leap 1.5-2 m and produce frog-like sounds, “The Lesser Florican is best known for its aerial courtship when the male makes a series of spectacular jumps to a height of 1.5 to 2 m. You can hear frog-like sound made by the Florican during his aerial courtship.”

The lesser florican is indigenous to India and famed for its leaping-breeding antics. eBird says males’ pale wings and fluffy bodies are appealing, while females’ size and shape stand out. During breeding season, the male’s wooing dance helps find them.
