Pakistan demands Israeli forces pull back from Gaza

At a pivotal United Nations Security Council session, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative, Asim Iftikhar, voiced deep concern over the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza and urged the international community to take immediate and effective action.

In his address, Iftikhar said that despite a ceasefire agreement, Israeli violations have continued, resulting in the deaths of more than 300 Palestinians even after the truce was announced. He noted that the two-year-long conflict has caused unprecedented devastation, claiming over 70,000 Palestinian lives.

The Pakistani envoy stressed the need for full adherence to the ceasefire and called for the swift withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza. He underscored that uninterrupted humanitarian assistance to the besieged population is critically urgent and appealed to global actors to step up with concrete support.

Iftikhar further emphasized that lasting peace hinges on the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital. He also demanded accountability for violations of international law and an immediate halt to illegal Israeli settlement expansion in the West Bank.

Concluding his remarks, Asim Iftikhar reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and urged the international community to take prompt, decisive, and comprehensive measures to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
