Terrorist attack on FC Headquarters in Peshawar thwarted; three attackers killed

PESHAWAR: A terrorist attack on Federal Constabulary (FC) headquarters in Peshawar was successfully foiled early Monday morning after security forces swiftly responded to an explosion and ensuing gunfire.

According to Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Dr. Mian Saeed, the incident occurred at approximately 8:10 am, when three suicide attackers attempted to storm the facility. An explosion took place at the main gate of the headquarters, immediately followed by heavy gunfire that lasted several minutes.

Federal Constabulary personnel opened fire on both attackers,” said CCPO Javed Iqbal, commending the readiness of the forces. The FC soldiers bravely confronted the terrorists,” he added.

CCPO Mian Saeed confirmed that all three suicide attackers were killed during the exchange of fire. The rapid response by FC personnel and police prevented the attackers from breaching deeper into the secure compound.

Local residents reported hearing intense bursts of gunfire from the direction of the FC headquarters, prompting alarm across nearby neighborhoods.

Police, bomb disposal units, and rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene as a heavy contingent of law enforcement cordoned off the area. Sunehri Masjid Road has been sealed, with traffic diverted toward Saddar Road as the operation continues.
