Rosemary Kirkcaldy, born in Blantyre, Nyasaland, Scotland on January 1, 1929, rose to prominence as the wife of famed English actor Joss Ackland. Sadly, she died on July 25, 2002, at the age of 73, from motor neurone illness.
Rosemary Kirkcaldy, the daughter of Robert Hunter Kirkcaldy and Phyllis Nyasa Ryall, studied ballet and drama at the University of Cape Town. On August 18, 1951, she married Joss Ackland, who stood 5 feet 6 inches tall. The couple, who had seven children, encountered tragedy when their son, Paul Ackland, died of an overdose of drugs.
Rosemary, a Scottish-British actress, began her career on the stage, most famously in “The Glass Menagerie” in 1949. While specifics regarding Rosemary’s acting career are scarce, her love of the trade has been clear since childhood. Despite her accomplishments, she does not have a Wikipedia page.
