Who is Colin McGregor? All About Ewan McGregor’s Brother

Ewan and Colin McGregor, born in 1969 in Perth, Scotland, both loved airplanes as kids and often went to air shows with their dad. While Ewan became an actor, Colin followed his dream of being a fighter pilot in the Royal Air Force (RAF).

After 20 years of service flying Tornado GR4’s, Colin retired in 2007. The brothers teamed up for documentaries like the BBC’s “RAF at 100 with Ewan and Colin McGregor,” exploring the RAF’s history.

Despite Colin being a pilot, they worked together in movies. In 2011, they did “Battle of Britain” and then “Bomber Boys” in 2012, talking about the RAF’s past. Colin even had a small role in Ewan’s film “T2 Trainspotting” in 2017.

Colin, a dad of two, has a close relationship with his son Jamie, who’s into music and filmmaking. Both Ewan and Colin are proud of their kids. Colin, also an uncle to Ewan’s five kids, loves staying active. He does Ironman competitions and triathlons with his wife, Sarah.

Besides being an Ironman, Colin loves biking. He shares his cycling adventures with his family, including Sarah. Colin supports charities through his active lifestyle. He ran the Edinburgh Marathon with his family for the Epilepsy Society and cycles for foundations like the My Name’s Doddie Foundation, fighting against Motor Neuron disease.
