The chilling tale of Thomas Randolph, known as “The Black Widower,” has captured widespread attention with the recent premiere of the docuseries The Black Widower: The Six Wives of Thomas Randolph on July 15, 2024. Now serving 60 years to life at Lovelock Correctional Center, Randolph’s life and the heinous crimes he committed are laid bare for all to see.
Thomas William Randolph was born in February 1955 in South Carolina, USA, to parents Dorothy and Thomas Randolph Sr. His father, who passed away in 2012 at the age of 82, was a retired MSgt from the U.S. Air Force and co-owned H&W Truss and Manufacturing. Randolph grew up with his brother, Joseph, celebrating his birthday every February. At the time of his incarceration, Randolph was 69 years old. He holds American nationality, is of white ethnicity, and practices Christianity.
Thomas completed his high school education in his hometown in South Carolina. While further educational details remain scarce, he is known to be a high school graduate. At 69, Randolph stands at 6 feet tall and weighs around 98 kg, presenting an imposing figure even in his later years.
Randolph’s personal life was marred by a series of marriages ending in mysterious deaths. His first marriage to Kathryn Thomas in 1975 lasted until their divorce in 1983 due to his abusive behavior. On the day of his divorce, he married Becky Gault, who died three years later in what was initially ruled a suicide, netting Randolph a $500,000 life insurance payout.
His third marriage to Gayna Allmon ended in separation, and his fourth wife, Francis Thomas, died in the hospital after a botched heart surgery in 2004. His fifth wife, Leona Stapleton, died of cancer, with few details known about their relationship. Finally, Randolph married Sharon Causse, his sixth wife, who was killed during a staged home invasion in 2008. Randolph had hired a hitman to kill her to cash in on a $300,000 life insurance payout.
The law caught up with Thomas when he was convicted of the murders of his sixth wife, Sharon Causse, and the hitman he hired. He is now serving two consecutive life sentences, plus additional time for gun charges. His grim story is detailed in the docuseries The Black Widower: The Six Wives of Thomas Randolph, providing a deep dive into his crimes and the devastating impact on his victims.
