Louise Blouin, a Canadian magazine publisher known in the art world, recently faced bankruptcy at 65. She sold her fancy mansion in the Hamptons for $89 million, hoping for more but couldn’t get it. Despite her past success in hosting extravagant parties, she ended up in court seeking more money.
She started from a regular family but hit hard times after her father died when she was 15. After some college and working in finance, she got into business with her ex-husband, John MacBain, but later sold her stake.
She briefly ran an auction house in London before starting her art publications. She also set up a foundation for the arts.
Despite once being rich, financial problems arose, and she filed for bankruptcy, even appearing in court without a lawyer. She’s been married three times, currently living in Switzerland with her third husband, Mathew Kabatoff.
