Schools in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will remain closed as cold waves will likely hit the provinces from today onwards.

Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted that temperature will be decreased in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Elementary and Secondary Education Department has informed that the schools will be reopened in Peshawar and Punjab after 12th January. All the activities will be started again in schools on 13th January.

PMD Director Zaheer Ahmed Babar informed while talking to media that the weather will remain dry and cold from today.

Apart from that, he also informed that Punjab and Sindh will experience fog. Areas including Bahawalpur, Sukkur, and Multan will be covered in fog.

Apart from that, the meteorological department has also forecasted snowfall and rain in over mountains and areas of Upper of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, Gilgit Baltistan, Islamabad, and Kashmir till the next day.

Strong winds will hit the upper and central of the country till tomorrow.

Snowfall likely to frost parts of the country and upper hills

Note that rain had occurred in several areas of Punjab since yesterday. Over 20 ml rain was recorded in Murree, 14mm in Sialkot, 10, in Islamabad, 12mm in Kasur & Bahawalnagar, 9mm in Okara, 6mm in Lahore, 8mm in Faisalabad, 7mm in Sargodha and Hafizabad.

Similarly, six-millimeter rain was recorded in Noorpur Thal, Chakwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, 5mm in Gujranwala and 30mm in areas of Balochistan.
