The most recent killing, according to Ecuador’s National Police, occurred on Tuesday in the Amazonian province of Pastaza “as a result of handling an explosive device.”

Police made it clear that they do not use those things to keep the peace during peaceful marches and demonstrations, and even less so. According to the institution, judicial authorities will look into the issue and will offer assistance in order to shed light on all violent instances.

The health ministry of Ecuador said on Tuesday that two fatalities occurred last Sunday as a result of a blockade caused by protestors blocking ambulances.

The fatality was associated with the protests, according to the police report of a person who died on Monday after falling into a gully in Quito’s north.
Since the protests began on June 13, at least 120 police personnel have suffered significant injuries, according to Ecuador’s National Police.

Since the beginning of the protests, multiple requests for an open conversation have been made by the administration of President Lasso. In a video speech shared on Twitter on Monday, Lasso claims he has been paying attention to the “needs of the most disadvantaged” by putting a particular emphasis on calls for debt forgiveness, intercultural education, and healthcare.
They claimed in a statement released by Conaie yesterday that government propaganda against indigenous communities contained “mockery, falsehoods, and racist colonial narrative.”
