The D.C. voters head to the polls Tuesday for the city’s Democratic primary elections; when they will have the option to vote for Democratic nominees in a variety of races; this includes mayor, attorney general, and several D.C. Council seats.

Before the Democratic primary, all registered voters received a ballot in the mail; and while thousands have already voted early, election officials are bracing for huge lines on Election Day.
From 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, 90 in-person voting stations will be open in all eight wards; people can also vote via a ballot drop box until 8 p.m.

Because D.C. voters are overwhelmingly Democratic; the primary usually predicts who will win the regular election in November.
Voters will decide whether to re-elect Mayor Muriel E. Bowser; who has served two terms, or one of her opponents; Council members Trayon White Sr. (Ward 8) and Robert C. White Jr. (At-Large); as well as James Butler, a former advisory neighbourhood commissioner.

In the contest for D.C. attorney general, voters will choose between Brian Schwalb, Ryan Jones, and Bruce V. Spiva; in the race for D.C. Council chair; challenger Erin Palmer will face incumbent Phil Mendelson.
Anita Bonds, the incumbent, is up against challengers Lisa Gor;, Nathan Fleming, and Dexter Williams for an at-large seat on the D.C. Council.
