Following a backlash over its decision to exclude attendees from the Summit of the Americas, Biden administration is supporting initiatives to solve Latin America’s economic, health, and food security challenges in order to reduce migration to the United States. According to her office, Vice President Kamala Harris will announce $3.2 billion in corporate contributions on Tuesday to assist address the “root causes” of migration from Central America. Visa has pledged $270 million to help bring 6.5 million individuals into the formal banking system as part of the corporate promises.
