Police reported on Saturday that Puerto Rican superstar Ricky Martin; is now subject to a restraining order. Authorities attempted to serve the order after it was signed on Friday; and they went to the singer’s residence in an affluent area of the north coastal town of Dorado; according to police spokesperson Axel Valencia. Police haven’t been able to locate him yet, Valencia added.

In a statement provided to People by his representatives; Martin, 50, refuted the accusations.

The statement states, “The claims against Ricky Martin; that resulted in a protective order are absolutely untrue and contrived.”

“We are extremely certain that our client Ricky Martin will be totally vindicated; when the true facts in this situation come out”; the statement continued.

The source of the restraining order request was not immediately clear. Valencia informed AP that he was unable to disclose more information; because the order was made in accordance with Puerto Rico’s domestic violence law.

According to the order, Martin and the other party allegedly dated for seven months; according to the Puerto Rican publication El Vocero. The order, according to the newspaper; states that they split up two months ago, but the petitioner claims that Martin did not agree to the split; and has been spotted loitering close to her home at least three times.

El Vocero cited the order as saying, “The petitioner worries for his safety.”

Valencia informed the AP that the order forbids Martin; from contacting or calling the person who filed it; and that a judge would ultimately decide whether or not to lift the injunction; at a hearing. He continued by saying such orders are often implemented; for at least a month.

Valencia pointed out that the person who requested the restraining order did not call the police; which would have required the prosecution to decide whether there was sufficient evidence to press charges.
