Germany’s Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht said Russia’s “partial mobilization” and plans for referendums in occupied parts of Ukraine will not stop Germany from sending military aid to Ukraine. France’s Minister of Defense Sebastien Lecornu stated that his country will continue to offer assistance to Ukraine in the form of arms and training.

Germany’s Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht said Thursday, that Russia’s “partial mobilisation” and plans for referendums in occupied parts of Ukraine will not stop Germany from sending military aid to Ukraine.

“Rather, this reaction from Putin to Ukraine’s successes spurs us on to continue to support Ukraine and send this clear signal,” Lambrecht told reporters in Berlin following a meeting with her French counterpart.

“We see that Ukraine has achieved great successes,” she said, highlighting the support it received from Germany and France.

Lambrecht also stated that the referendums that have been announced in Ukraine by officials who are backed by the Kremlin “will have no impact on us,” noting that these referendums will not change the level of support that Ukraine will receive from Germany.

Sebastien Lecornu, the Minister of Defense for France, stated that his country will continue to offer assistance to the Ukraine in the form of arms and training. Lecornu added that France required cooperation from NATO in order to accomplish this goal.
