Macky Sall, who is both the President of Senegal and the President of the African Union, has just finished speaking on the podium at COP27.

He then went on to address the leaders, delegates, and ambassadors that were in attendance and said that COP27 is an opportunity for both industrialised and developing countries to either “create history” or “be a victim of history.”

In spite of the fact that Africa is responsible for less than 4% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions, he believes that the continent is a force that is driving low carbon development.

But he adds it is “those who pollute the most” that “should pay the most in order to get our planet off this track of climate crisis”.
