Lorry fire shuts northbound carriageway in Cambridgeshire

  • A lorry fire has shut down the northbound lanes of the M11 in Cambridgeshire.
  • The incident took place on the Girton Interchange slip road at 8:00 GMT.

Due to a lorry fire in Cambridgeshire, the M11’s northbound lanes will be restricted “for some time,” according to the fire department.

At 8:00 GMT, Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue was alerted to the incident on the Girton Interchange slip road.

To put out the fire, the northbound lanes of the highway were shut down between junction 13 for Cambridge and junction 14.

Roadside smoke was visible, and National Highways issued a fog-related poor visibility alert.

The Fire service tweeted: “The road will be closed for some time while firefighters deal with the incident and for the road to be repaired.”

Diversions, according to National Highways, are in place.
